It was brought to the District's attention by a customer ,that an individual has put out via social media that the District did not pay for its Domain name and he has bought it and rerouted it. The customer, who supplied this information, was worried that this could cause diruptions for customers. Walnut Creek uses the Domain name Walnut Creek SUD .org not Walnut Creek SUD.com. If the district ever used the .com it has been many many years as the .org address has been used for well over 10 years. This person has indeed bought the .com Domain name which is in no way associated with Walnut Creek SUD's Water District. The individuals .com page will direct users to a personal social media opinion group overseen by the individual who bought the Domain name. This is legal as long as the individual or group does not in anyway, through action or words lead anyone to believe that they represent Walnut Creek SUD.
Other information about rates increasing is correct but not for the reasons listed by the individual. Information pertaining to the rate increase and why will be on the District Website ( www.walnutcreeksud.org) under Recent News on 7/17/24 along with current projects ,under construction and coming up being funded by the Bond. The Recent News section is available by clicking on the Customers drop down at the top of the page.

UPDATE: As of 7/10/24 at 7:30am; Builders or residents who have had new sod put down within the month of June 2024 may water on both Tuesdays and Thursdays through the end of July 2024. This will help establish a root system before going to once a day. The District is not in any way trying to cause loss of money or property so with your cooperation this should be sustainable. Established yards are asked to remain on the once per week schedule. As of 12:30pm,7/8/24 Walnut Creek SUD has rescinded the Drought Contingency Plan from Stage 3 to Stage 2 . Watering will be allowed 1 day a week. Even Addresses on Tuesdays and Odd Addresses on Thursdays. The District will stay at Stage 2 for as long as possible mechanically. The District believes that with the help of customers in conserving water where possible during irrigation, Stage 2 will be sustainable. The district has went back to Stage 2 of the Drought contingency plan. Pleas look under notices on the District website to view stage 2. Outside watering for even addresses will be on Tuesdays and Odd addresses om Thursdays.

Dear Customer,During the month of June water usage, throughout Walnut Creek SUD went up by 75% . This in the form of almost 40 million gallons of water most of which went toward irrigation. That is like having the district grow 75% overnight. It is not possible to prepair for that kind of usage . July has already taken off at a pace that will far surpass those numbers. This strains the lines throughout the system and strains pumps and motors used to move the water. The water plant and pump stations are currently running around the clock. The District in no way wants to have to put more stringent guidlines on watering days. With that said the District is asking customers with irrigation systems for your cooperation in setting your irrigation systems to water only 10 minutes per zone twice a week ( on your set watering days). Anything past 10 minutes will not be absorbed into the ground and becomes wasted water. Your cooperation will cut back on wasted water and keep your yard healthy. It will also help keep the water system running more efficiently and help insure that adequate water can be provided to everyone in the system. Also allowing the district to be able to stay on the current watering schedule. Thank You James Blackwood,General Manager
